The journal was founded March 2004 as a periodical publication “Vestnik of the Yakut State University”.

In 2010, in conjunction with the creation on the basis of the state educational institution of higher education "M.K. Ammosov Yakut State University" of the federal state autonomous educational institution of higher education "M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University" the journal was renamed "Vestnik of NEFU".

Short title of the publication: Вестник СВФУ. Vestnik of NEFU.

The target audience of the jornal are academic researchers, university professors, graduate and postgradutate students.

The editorial policy of the journal is aimed at:

• assistance of the publication in the creation of a competitive scientific and educational environment that activates the innovative and creative work of representatives of scientific communities on the regional, local and global level;
• transformation of the scientific publication into a reliable tool of scientific communication, a resource that gives an impetus to the development of the federal university at large;
• integration of the scientific journal into the world scientific information space.
