Abstract
The article explores the poetics of contemporary Bashkir literature, a theme of current relevance to the literary process, employing prose works as an example. This paper provides the national, cultural and historical characteristics of Bashkir prose. Through an assessment of several novels, the author identifies the genre’s origins and the specific compositional features of these works. Eventually, the study outlines potential features future developments in the modern Bashkir novel. The author concludes that modern Bashkir prose is the result of literary explorations throughout the 20th century, combined with modern trends and directions in literature. The main problem determined in this study is the absence of clear genre distinctions within Bashkir literature. This includes a lack of internationally renowned representatives of this region in the literary world. The limited scope research on the distinctive features of Bashkortostan literature leads to a reduced understanding of the unique phenomenon in literature, reflecting the cultural, social, and historical realities of Bashkortostan. The poetics of these novels often encompass a combination of traditional elements from Bashkir oral storytelling and modern literary techniques. Themes and motifs: modern novels study a wide variety of themes, ranging from national identity and cultural heritage to social change and individual crises. These often show traditional Bashkir values, customs, and mythology. Structure and style: these novels can use diverse narrative techniques, including fragmentation, layering of narrative, and the use of different points of view, thereby creating a dynamic and multifaceted perception of the plot. Characters: protagonists in modern Bashkir novels are often carriers of cultural conflicts, facing the challenges of modernity and trying to preserve their identity. Their internal experiences and the search for the meaning of life become the central elements of the narrative. Language and symbolism: the language of these works is replete with metaphors and symbols that emphasize the cultural characteristics of the Bashkir people. The use of dialects and folk speech gives authenticity to the texts. Social context: modern novels reflect changes in society, including globalization, migration, and the transformation of traditional values, making it relevant to discussions of contemporary issues. Thus, the poetics of the modern Bashkir novel represents a complex relationship between traditions and innovations, establishing it as a significant part of both Bashkir and world literature.
